welcome to this tour a cost tracker for temple timesheets for JIRA Club cost tracker is a simple but powerful app that leverages the log time data coming from temple timesheets it transforms the time tracked on JIRA issues into costs and paints a clear and simple picture of your projects financial health at a glance you can assess how your project costs are tracking against your budget how many hours are being spent on your project and you can keep an eye on your expenses in this video I'll take you on a tour through a project that I'm working on in cost tracker you'll see that it's very easy to use and needs minimum amount of setup to get going so let's get started I'll click the cost tracker icon here to open it on the home page I can see all the projects to which I have access at a glance I get a high-level overview of how my projects are doing are they on track like this one or maybe they're over budget like here up here I can create a new project and I'll cover how to do this in another video but you can see that there are only a few things that I need to get set up and I can change these anytime later on the important thing for a project is to first create a single JIRA filter jaql this contains all the issues that you want to include in your project and this can be from one or more JIRA projects this filter essentially defines the cost track or project scope which I'll show you in a minute I'll click my project's name to see its overview which clearly shows the total project costs over the time frame I can see how the labor and expenses track against my budget up here and a quick hover over the graph gives me all the information I need for the project up to that date I'll go to the project scope to get more details about the cost of the time that was spent on the JIRA issues these issues were the ones that my JIRA filter picked up when I created the project I can see the time spent on each one and cost the timeframe is calculated automatically using log time data from these issues and I can change this time frame later if I want I've organized these JIRA issues into groups that I've created in this case for each department but I could create groups for anything else that I want such as project milestones a summary here makes it easy to see information only for that group which is a great way to quickly parse that data up here I can see options related to the project scope when there are changes in the filter such as issues being added or removed cost tracker notifies me and I can check these changes here but it doesn't automatically update the project it's up to me to sync these changes when I'm ready and that gives me the control that I need I could even select another JIRA filter here with change scope such as if I chose the wrong one when I created the project this essentially changes the cost tracker scope so only a project owner has the power to do this at any point I can export the project data in CSV format to get it into a spreadsheet for more processing but if I want others to view or contribute to my project within cost tracker itself I can share it I can select other users who also have cost tracker access such as project or financial managers in my company if I take a look at the general view I see all the information that I entered when I created my project plus a budget and here's where I can change the timeframe for my project such as if I want to show my project costs for only a month but I can always get back to the original calculated timeframe with this magic button so no worries about getting stuck to see who's working on the JIRA issues I'll check the team's view this team is automatically created based on whoever has logged time against the issues in my cheer filter so you don't even have to go through the effort of setting up teams I can quickly see the labor costs per team roll on this very colourful bar I can also see the time spent by each member and their cost so that gives me a lot of insights into individual contributions to the project one more thing to check is the expenses which are all mine on labor costs for the project this bar gives me a nice snapshot of the cost of expenses per category these can be one-time investments like office equipment or they can be recurring expenses like rent and if I go back to the project overview I can see these fixed expenses clearly against the labor costs and I can also see them on the home page when I hover over actual and this is a quick way to find out how the cost is being split so we've come full-circle to the home page and that's a good place to end our tour through temple cost tracker thanks for coming along and I hope it helped you see how easily cost tracker can give you a picture of your projects health for more information make sure to check out the other cost tracker videos and also our Help Center just click the big green button in the corner you
