welcome to tempo for jira server in this video series we're going to show you how to manage a team we'll start off in this video by covering how you create a team add members to it and setup team permissions creating teams is the first thing you need to do before you can manage and plan work for your team members you can create teams for all sorts of reasons but the main idea is that a team is a group of people who work together in some way for example this could be a scrum team development or design team or a special projects team where members have different skills and even locations let's take a look at how to create a team in tempo using this example Taylor wants to create a new team for Beverly Robert and Tanya and then plan some upcoming work for them creating teams requires tempo team administrator permissions which Taylor can get from her JIRA administrator once she has these permissions she's ready to create a team from the tempo menu she selects more under teams to go to the team's view then she clicks create team up at the right in the create team dialog she enters red flare as the team's name for the summary she adds that this is a special projects team Taylor assigns herself as the team lead this simply means that in tempo she has permissions to manage and plan work for this team it doesn't change anything else in JIRA or in her company's organization she clicks create team and the new team is added to the list on the team's view then she clicks on the team's name to go to its overview from here Taylor can add members to the red 13 she clicks configuration and here she could add more information about the team but she selects members in the sidebar to see the team members and there aren't any yet so Taylor starts by entering Robert's name in the users field and adds him as the designer which is what his role is when he's part of this team a member can have different roles on different teams since Robert will be dedicated to this team she keeps his availability as 100% she could set the joining and leaving dates but leaves them open for now she clicks ad and now he's a member of team red flare Taylor continues to build her team by adding Beverly who's doing marketing Taylor sees that she's already part of another team and working at 50% there so she changes Beverly's availability to 50% finally Taylor adds Tania who's a developer again she sees that Tania is on another team so she'll set availability to 50% for the red flower team and with that her team is complete next Taylor needs to configure permissions for this new team so she selects permissions on the sidebar Taylor who's the team lead has all the team permissions by default and all team members have browsed team permissions so that they can view team information but Robert Tania and Beverly need one more thing to be able to plan work for themselves so Taylor clicks in the users field and adds each one of them to the planned time permissions list note that you can also create a group with the team members to give permissions in one shot then she clicks update to save the changes now her team is all set up and ready to do some work in the next video we'll look at how to plan work for a team you
